Hi there everyone. I'm Austin and i'm just starting out and have decided to play Cygnar and i am currently building up my army, assuming the power gets back on at work soon and i can get the money to buy them. I go to college in Ada so I might not be around till i go back to college this fall, i might be up there for a rugby tournament soon and will come if i am. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome to the forums!

Cygnar was my first faction. The gunmages wearing those tri-cornered hats sold me as soon as I saw them. I had no clue what their in-game rules or stats were, but I knew I had to play Cygnar so I could field them.

I was looking at those earlier when deciding what i wanted to buy. Ended up the the battlegroup box, a heavy warjack plastic kit, and some materials for the bases. Oh and of course the rule book and the cygnar book.

Welcome!

We play every Thursday night from 6-10 PM at the Dueling Grounds in Findlay.

I play Cygnar as well. It sounds like you are off to a solid start with the faction. The thing with Cygnar is that we can take almost any Mercenary support, so it's very versatile.

If you are just starting out, I'd recommend picking up a Squire. It is incredibly useful and works well with any caster in the faction. I'd also suggest picking up the merc Gorman di Wolf; his Black Oil is one of the most powerful de-buffs in the game.

Anyway, how did you find our forum?

Also, it is worth noting that I live in Bluffton, which is less than 15 min. from Ada. I bring this up, because I'll be starting up an Iron Kingdoms RPG group that will probably game at my place once the books come out in late August. I also have a weekly board game/RPG group that I attend at a friend's place in Ada, so there's a bit of cross-pollination there.

Welcome aboard! Cryx player here, but I too would highly recommend Squire and Gorman from my own experiences. Nice to see yet another person interested in the game! The Fostoria area has a number of players as well, though the nearest shop is Dueling Grounds in Findlay and most of the time we can only get there for tournies and such. Still, there's a few homes with gamerooms here and if you're interested I'm sure we could provide addresses for you to come on over some time!

Cygnar is a nice well-rounded faction IMO, with a bit more emphasis on shooting but can still do quite well in melee. I've played a few games as Cygnar when I started out and enjoyed the casters I had access to (pStryker, pHaley, Sloan) but eventually settled on Cryx (I'm a sucker for undead armies).

Anyway, feel free to poke around the forums, ask questions, etc. and again nice to have you!

Well the very first of my army arrived while i was at work today. Right now it consists of 1 Stryker 1 Cyclone 1 Charger 1Lancer, and 1 Defender/Ironclad not sure which one i'm gonna use. Now to start the process of assembly and painting tomorrow hopefully.

Sounds like a solid start. If you're not sure on the Defender/Ironclad, either play some games to test them both out until you decide on one, or better yet, get some magnets so you can have either of them. I've found magnetizing jacks to be not too difficult (the Ret ones are a pain from what I saw Shawn do though) and gives you more bang for your buck.

I'll look into magnets when i go into the hobby store today to get some paint, it'd be nice to be able to switch them out
