RSVP for possible SR Tourney, Sat. Mar. 24 or April 13th

Hey all,

I'd like to continue having these successful tournaments and want to get Dennis to order prize support extra early so that everything is ordered and arrives on time.

So, who could make this tourney? I'm thinking either this weekend, or the second Sat. in April (the 14th).

Id need to put in for the 24th asap. The 14th wouldnt be a problem.

April is the worst month in the world for me, March I can do

April 14th is probably out for me, but I would be in for March 24th. Looking forward to it!

Id have to talk to my wife but i really dont see a problem with this month. I would need a ride though.

OK, looks like we have a bit of a consensus going, so I'll make it offical and plan for our tourney to be on Sat. March 24. I'll contact Amy today to order the prize support.

I just talked to Amy at the DG. We'll start at 2 PM this time on Sat. March 24 and go until 8-9ish. She's going to order the prize kit, so we should have it at the event this time.

I'll look through the SR pack and see if I want to introduce any variables. We'll plan for a 3 round event. I'm considering scaling back the point scale (25 maybe) and having a 4 round event instead of a 3, for example.

Put in for the 24th of work. Got it in early enough that I should get it.

Any idea on what kind of tourny? Anything unique or a straight up steamroller type of deal?

I'm open to requests for what folks would like to see. The prize packet will be for a SteamRoller tourney, but they give you lots of flexibility for custom designing an event.

Personally, I'd like to be able to have 4 rounds instead of 3, because that would give a better feel for the overall best player. The challenge is doing that, while keeping the overall event time to a reasonable length. I'm considering having a lower point value than 35 or decreasing the time length for each round.

Other ideas/requests?

Personally I hate going less than 35 pts, feels like there are no options, so would prefer if you did go below that, its not a whole lot. As far as more rounds. I completely agree. 3 rounds is very short, and on top of that, the last tournament felt super quicker. All for more rounds.

I would vote for 35 points. Your army can have the basics (a battlegroup) and a couple of options. I am up for the four rounds though. I am always up for more games. The sign up time though I would hope to be around noon then start up around 12:30 ish. If we play four rounds we will still have most of the shop to ourselves. Less noise.

Unfortunately, after talking to Amy, our sign up time is going to have to be at 2 PM. She didn't know if Dennis was going to have to work and that's the earliest she wanted to commit to opening early for us (they usually open at 3 PM, unless there are scheduled Magic events, which is what happened for our last two tourneys).

Ah, well what ever time it starts Im hoping to be there. Still need rides and stuff.

I too dislike less than 35 points and with the 2012 time rules (7 1/2 minute turns...) I don't think it would be a problem to get 4 rounds. Possibly an earlier start also. Pretty sure they open at 12 on Saturdays.

Not officially anyway. They are often open at noon, but that's only if they have scheduled Magic or other events going on, but if they don't, they open at 3 PM. Since on the 24th, they don't have anything else scheduled, Amy (understandably) didn't want to come in early just for us, but would come in an hour early, so 2 PM is the earliest we could get rolling.

Id say 35 points, since its big tourney standard.

Wonder how many out of towners we get this time. I dont think we've had a repeated visitor yet.

I see. Regardless, with the turn timer down 2.5 minutes I don't forsee a problem getting 4 rounds in. I realise other people might have things they have to get to but I would stay to wee hours of the next morning to play a 20 rounder if there are any takers! )
